You will find the Intratuin Zuidplas along the A12 motorway between The Hague and Utrecht, next to the Zevenhuizen exit. This brand new garden centre sees 55 Intratuins in the Netherlands and with it comes a combination of sustainability and optimum experience under one roof.

The design is transparent, spacious and symmetrical, giving the building an inviting and majestic appearance. The total site is over 50.000 m² and includes a 15.000 m² parking area enough for 560 cars, a 3.000 m² external logistics area, a 2.500 m² water feature, a 3.000 m² warehouse and 16.000 m² of retail space divided between two floors.

The cold and heated greenhouses are located on the ground floor, presenting the customer with a comprehensive choice of external greenery, houseplants, interior decorating articles, lighting, pet supplies and pond equipment and accessories. The first floor displays garden furniture, seasonal cooking equipment and garden sheds and huts. The broad aisles allow ample space for the introduction of various sales exhibits and stands and, at a number of selected junctures, for the insertion of set piece themed rooms and environments. Wide sloping paths connect the shop floors and provides easy access for the shopping carts. The centrally located garden cafe features an impressive terrace overlooking the water to its rear.

This Intratuin is distinctive in that the entire shop floor is under cover, which allows the customers to enjoy all of the departments all year round. The Open Sky greenhouses also mean that even the outer garden area always offers a pleasant shopping experience.

Sustainability is vital to this family run centre. Intratuin Zevenhuizen is one of the Netherlands' most modern garden centres in view of corporate social responsibility. The roof consists of nine separate layers of synthetic material and the elevations benefit from extra thick insulating glass. The gutters have been insulated and a ground heat pump system has been installed. This makes it possible to heat and cool the shop, the storeroom and the greenhouses in an energy-efficient manner. Low energy lighting is used throughout the building with no discernible compromise on quality. Rainwater is collected for watering plants, both internally and externally. And there is even a charging point for electrical bikes.

With the construction of this facility, Intratuin has acquired an impressive centre within the region, making green inspiration and the accompanying shopping enjoyment available to all.
