LOCATION: Dorpsstraat 85A, 1731 RC  Winkel - NL
CLIENT: Private
GFA: 325 m²
PERIOD: 1990 - 1993

Living in an environment where most of the year, the same climate prevails, in the Netherlands is hardly conceivable. Yet this possibility has been realized in the small village Winkel in the North East of the Netherlands. At the Dorpsstraat, a building erected in the form of a kind luxury greenhouse containing a hairdressing salon and a house, surrounded by a courtyard.
Through the centuries you have had different building styles, but I'm currently see too few typical houses or buildings, said Paul Breddels.

The greenhouse is now a new phenomenon. The glass roof is 24 meters long, 13 meters wide and 7 meters high. At the front of the greenhouse is a single façade, consisting of three stainless steel components. It gives a beautiful, dimensional effect.

In the greenhouse are two circular units: half in the ground poured concrete silos with a pillar in the middle, a diameter of 7 meters and a floor area of 35 square meters per floor. One unit is designed as a home, where the living room and kitchen are on the first floor. The bedrooms, shower and cellar are in the basement.

The other unit is arranged as a hairdressing salon, where the wet areas and space for the staff are located in the basement. On the floor above is the hairdressing salon located.
